Cairo, Desert Safari to Luxor, Nile Cruise, Sharm El Sheikh & Alexandria (GEM Museum Visit)

Start & end in Cairo 20 days Up to 20

About this trip

Twenty days across Egypt, moving from Cairo's ancient sites out through the desert to Luxor, onto a Nile cruise, then down to the Red Sea coast at Sharm El Sheikh before finishing in Alexandria. It's a full guided sweep of the country rather than a single-city stay.

Expect pyramids and pharaonic history early on, days on the water as the cruise carries you between temple towns, and a shift in pace once you reach the coast. Alexandria closes things out with its Mediterranean feel and the new GEM Museum.

What you'll do

  • See the Pyramids and Sphinx at Giza
  • Cross the desert overland to Luxor
  • Cruise the Nile between temple sites
  • Relax by the Red Sea in Sharm El Sheikh
  • Visit the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) in Alexandria
Good to know
  • A long, multi-region trip — you'll cover desert, river and coast in one go
  • Fully guided throughout, so logistics between destinations are handled for you
  • Suited to travellers happy with a busy, varied itinerary rather than staying put
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you love ancient Egypt enough to endure long drives, dodgy logistics and aggressive touts. Think twice if you want relaxation or pristine comfort.

  • Desert nights promised were cut to one; replaced with three third-class hotels in noisy towns instead.
  • Nile cruise ship moored between four others for 26+ hours; generator noise at 40+ decibels ruins sleep nightly.
  • Guides consistently go far beyond expectations and are genuinely knowledgeable, despite some language barriers.
  • Sharm El Sheikh is excellent but hardly justifies the full 20 days; consider shortening Red Sea leg.
