About this trip
A four-day guided trek along the Laugavegur trail, one of Iceland's best-known multi-day hikes through the highlands. Each day you walk a new stretch of the route, with a guide leading the group throughout.
Instead of camping, you sleep in mountain huts along the way, so evenings are about resting up and refuelling rather than pitching a tent.
It's a proper trekking trip — day after day on foot through changing highland terrain, done as part of a small group.
What you'll do
- Walk the full Laugavegur trail over four days
- Cover a new section of highland terrain each day
- Overnight in staffed mountain huts along the route
- Trek as part of a small, fully guided group
- Rated moderate — you should be a comfortable, fit hiker used to multi-day walking
- You sleep in huts each night, not tents, but conditions are basic highland accommodation rather than hotels
- Fully guided throughout, so route-finding and logistics are handled for you
Worth it if you want a genuinely stunning trek with exceptional guides and solid group dynamics. Think twice if you're relying on their rental gear—it's substandard and potentially unsafe.
- Guides consistently go above and beyond: Louis's geology knowledge, Aaron's problem-solving in bad weather, cooking skills included.
- Rental rain gear is non-waterproof, broken, and useless despite paying extra. One reviewer got soaked day one.
- Food quality and dietary accommodation far exceed expectations; you'll eat well and won't go hungry.
- Solo travellers integrate seamlessly into groups; excellent for doing this trek alone for the first time.
