About this trip
Twelve days across Nepal and Bhutan, mixing city exploring, mountain flights and one serious hike. You start in Kathmandu's chaotic streets before crossing into Bhutan for a slower, more traditional pace among dzongs and monasteries.
The centrepiece is the hike up to Taktsang Monastery, the Tiger's Nest, perched on its cliff above the Paro valley. Around it there's a Bhutanese homestay, incense-making, and time in fortress towns that still run on centuries-old rhythms.
Back in Nepal, the trip winds down with a sunrise over the Himalayas from Nagarkot, a pottery session in Bhaktapur, and visits to Pashupatinath and Boudhanath, two of Kathmandu's most important religious sites.
