About this trip
The Galápagos are isolated enough that the wildlife still behaves as if you're not there, and this ten-day trip puts you among it aboard the Reina Silvia Voyager, a custom-built catamaran that serves as your base throughout.
You'll move through the central and eastern islands, with comfortable accommodation always close at hand between shore excursions and landings.
Expect close encounters with giant tortoises, seabirds and marine life across a mix of volcanic and coastal landscapes.
What you'll do
- See giant tortoises in the wild on Santa Cruz
- Spot three types of boobies on the volcanic terrain of Punta Pitt
- Hike alongside a saltwater lagoon on Rábida
- Explore the central and eastern Galápagos Islands by catamaran
- Sail between islands with the boat as your constant base
- Travel is by small motor catamaran with private rooms, suited to those happy being based on board
- Days are structured around guided landings and wildlife viewing rather than free time
- A fully guided trip, so someone's on hand to explain what you're looking at
Worth it if you want immersive wildlife education with a genuinely excellent guide and constant activity. Think twice if you prefer downtime or budget travel.
- Guide Omar was exceptionally knowledgeable about flora, fauna, and geology; made learning engaging and even edited trip videos.
- Days packed with zodiac excursions, hiking, snorkeling, and dolphin spotting across multiple islands kept boredom impossible.
- Crew went well beyond standard: helped with pre-trip accommodation, Covid tests, lost items, and accommodated mobility needs on trails.
- Daily snacks rotated inventively and meals were well-executed; food quality stands out as a genuine highlight of the experience.
