About this trip
Fourteen days across Sri Lanka that mix history, wildlife and coast, so you get a proper cross-section of the country rather than just beach time.
Inland you go looking for wildlife on safari, walk the old streets of Galle and learn about local flavours at a spice plantation. Then you shift down to the southern coast, where whales and dolphins turn up on the water and the days settle into snorkelling, surfing and a beach barbecue.

Kandyan cultural dance performance. Temple of the Tooth visit. Tea plantation visit and tasting (AMBA). Cooking demonstration. BBQ and camp at Udawalawe NP. Galle City and Fort tour. Sailing Sri Lanka's south coast. Visits to Weligama Bay and Galle. Watching for whales and dolphins from the boat. Beach BBQ. Snorkelling, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding equipment. All transport between destinations and to/from included activities.
- Transport: Private vehicle, 4x4, local bus, walking, 16m (54 ft) sailing catamaran.
- Accommodation: Standard hotel (6 nts), sailing catamaran (6 nts), camping (1 nt).
- Activities: 1. Space is very limited on the boat, especially in your cabin. It is important that you only take on board soft sided luggage such as a mid sized backpack or soft duffel bag, keeping your bag's weight to less than 15kg. Suitcases are not appropriate for our sailing adventure as they are not pliable enough to fit into the niches available for luggage storage. 2. Fresh water is very limited on board, and as such we ask for your understanding that showers are limited to one quick shower per person a day. One towel per week is provided for showering purposes - please bring a beach towel. Drinking water is provided free of charge on board the yacht. 3. It's important to note that the beds in the cabins are not the usual length of a standard bed. Cabin beds are approximately 1.8m (6 ft) in length. 4. Displaying body art or wearing clothing that includes an image of the Buddha is illegal; please be culturally sensitive and respect the law and should you have any such tattoos, keep them covered at all times. 5. Please note that this trip is a combination of multiple G Adventures tours. As such, the staff and/or particular vehicles operating your tour may change between tour segments. You may also expect some group members to join or leave the tour, between tour segments. 6. Traveling by road in Sri Lanka is certainly not what people are use to in Western countries. Many road ways are single lane, rules are not always followed, drivers appear to speed, do not stay in their lanes, and overtake in seemingly dangerous situations. Although their are some improvements in the works to the road infrastructure, there is a lot more to be done. As a result, some of the roads are poorly maintained, and this gets even more pronounced during and after the monsoon. As a result, travel time covering relatively short distances is very long in comparison to Western countries. 7. Some culturally significant sights in Sri Lanka may not allow entry to people wearing hats or hijabs, or to those with covered faces. Examples of cultural sites with such restrictions may include, but are not limited to, the Sri Maha Bodhi Tree section or the Anuradhapura Cultural Site, the Dambulla Cave Temple and Temple of the Tooth in Kandy. 8.
