About this trip

Four days along the Garden Route, mixing coastal views, wine country, and wildlife, with a comfortable, small-group pace and a night of glamping under the Karoo sky.

You'll wind through the Klein Karoo, taste wines at a family-owned Robertson Valley estate, explore the Cango Caves, and head out on a 4x4 game drive at a private reserve. The route also swings past Cape Agulhas and finishes along the coast through Hermanus and Clarence Drive.

It's a well-rounded taste of the region rather than a deep dive into any one part, good for travellers who want scenery, a bit of wildlife, and some standout stops without a long itinerary.

What you'll do

  • Taste wines at the family-owned Van Loveren estate in Robertson Valley
  • Explore the underground chambers of the Cango Caves
  • Optional dawn Meerkat Safari to watch them emerge from their burrows
  • Botlierskop 4x4 game drive with chances to spot much of the Big 5
  • Stand at Cape Agulhas, the southernmost tip of Africa
  • Drive the Clarence Drive coast road via Hermanus, a top whale-watching spot
Good to know
  • Minimum age 8, and under-18s must travel with an adult
  • Meerkat Safari and whale cruise are optional extras, not included in the base price
  • A short trip overall — expect a fair amount of driving between stops given the ground covered in 4 days

What travellers actually say

Worth it if you value expert guides, stunning scenery, and quality accommodation over time. Think twice if four days feels rushed for your pace.

  • Guides Nev and TK consistently went above and beyond, deeply knowledgeable yet attentive to group speed and vibe.
  • Accommodation was fabulous throughout; wildlife viewing delivered close-up animal encounters and memorable highlights like Knysna cruises and game drives.
  • Four days is tight for the Garden Route; reviewers suggest the five-day Addo extension or Port Elizabeth-to-Cape Town route captures more.
  • Group vibe is relaxed with optional activities and no pressure to socialise, though you're travelling with like-minded people.
