About this trip

Five days based at a jungle lodge outside Iquitos, deep in the Peruvian Amazon. It's set up for comfort rather than roughing it — proper rooms, private bathrooms, a bar and dining room — while still putting you right in the middle of the rainforest.

Days are built around guided excursions into the jungle with bilingual naturalist guides, plus nocturnal hikes to see what comes out after dark. Meals use local produce grown nearby.

It suits families and anyone keen on wildlife photography who wants a taste of the Amazon without giving up hot showers and a decent bed at the end of the day.

What you'll do

  • Guided jungle excursions each day with bilingual naturalist guides
  • Nocturnal hikes to spot nocturnal wildlife
  • Stay at a jungle lodge with hammocks, bar and games area
  • Eat meals made with locally grown fruit and vegetables
  • Browse handicraft stores at the lodge
Good to know
  • Flights between Lima and Iquitos are not included
  • Partially guided — excursions are guided but lodge time is your own
  • Lodge-based rather than trekking between camps, so good for families or a gentler pace
