   You arrive in Berlin for a welcome meeting at 6 pm. If you get there early, consider a Spree River cruise, the museums at Kulturforum Potsdamer Platz, or Berliner Dom Cathedral. Grab dinner with new travel mates afterwards—Berlin's food scene blends German classics with Bavarian, Italian and Middle Eastern influences, from currywurst and schnitzel to pretzels and beer.

   Day 2 · BerlinBerlin

   A free day to explore Berlin at your pace. See the Brandenburg Gate, Berlin Wall remnants, and the Reichstag, either solo, on a bike tour, or from the Berlin TV Tower observation deck. The Jewish Memorial and Topography of Terror are also options. Your leader can point you towards Berlin's best dinner spots.

   Day 3 · DresdenDresden

   

   Train to Dresden and do an orientation walk with your leader. The rebuilt Old Town, Frauenkirche, Zwinger and Neumarkt area are worth exploring. Try Saxon roast beef or potato dumplings for lunch, or take an Elbe river cruise for Baroque views. Head to the alternative Neustad neighbourhood in the evening for street art, independent bars and a different local vibe.

   Day 4 · PraguePrague

   

   A scenic train ride through the Labe Valley takes you to Prague. Your local leader gives an orientation walk covering medieval to avant-garde architecture, including the Dancing House. Visit a Czech brewery to try pilsner in its homeland. The afternoon is free—Prague Castle, St Vitus Cathedral and Golden Lane are all worth your time.

   Day 5 · PraguePrague

   Another free day in Prague to explore Bohemian art, writers and dissidents, sampling traditional and modern Czech food. Day trips to Kutna Hora are possible—see the Church of Santa Barbara and Sedlec ossuary, the chapel of bones holding 40,000 to 70,000 skeletons. Prague's Old Town comes alive at night with restaurants, vaulted-cellar pubs and some of Central Europe's best nightlife.

   Day 6 · BratislavaBratislava

   Travel to Bratislava, Slovakia's capital on the Danube. You have a free day to explore the Old Town and browse boutiques and cafes. Climb Michael's Gate or UFO Tower for views, visit the Bratislava City Museum, or spot the city's quirky statues. For dinner, try local kapustnica soup—your leader knows the best spots.

   Day 7 · BudapestBudapest

   Train to Budapest with a free afternoon to explore at your own pace. Visit the historic Buda Castle or the winding 13th-century Castle District streets. A Danube cruise shows you the Parliament Building, Castle District and bridges linking Buda and Pest. Consider dinner with fellow travellers in the evening.

   Day 8 · BudapestBudapest

   Your day is free until a 6 pm group meeting with new members. Wander the grand architecture and boulevards, browse local markets for langos, or head to Statue Park for insights into the city's past. Soak in one of the thermal bath complexes. After the meeting, gather a group for goulash or check out ruin bars in the Jewish Quarter.

   Day 9 · ViennaVienna

   

   Train to Vienna, then an orientation walk with your leader. Explore the Naschmarkt for food stalls, the Spanish Riding School, Prater, or Schoenbrunn Palace. Rejoin the group for coffee and cake at Vollpension, a cafe that employs older community members, bridging generations and offering genuine conversation with friendly staff.

    Day 10 · ViennaVienna

    A free day in Vienna with museums galore: the Albertina, Leopold, Kunsthalle Wien, Museum of Modern Art. Art enthusiasts should see Belvedere Palace for Klimt's The Kiss, Hundertwasserhaus, and the Secession building. Visit gothic St Stephen's Cathedral, the neo-classical Graben, or Hofburg Palace, the former Habsburg winter retreat now home to the Austrian president.

    Day 11 · SalzburgSalzburg

    Train to Salzburg, an Austrian hub on the German border backed by the Eastern Alps and divided by the Salzach River. Your full free day spans the Old City and New City. Visit Mirabell Palace and Gardens, Mozart's birthplace, or walk the medieval walls of Fortress Hohensalzburg. Find a viewpoint to photograph the fortress above the city and mountains beyond. Ask your leader for dinner tips.

    Train from Salzburg to Ljubljana, Slovenia's compact capital. An orientation walk with your leader covers the riverside streets, Central Market and Plecnik-designed bridges. The afternoon is yours to explore—consider a local walking tour, funicular up to Ljubljana Castle, or wandering Tivoli Park. Browse the Central Market or follow the Ljubljanica River past the Triple Bridge and Dragon Bridge.

    Take the train for a day trip to Bled. Discover this natural wonderland with outdoor activities around Triglav Massive—rafting, caving, canoeing and swimming available. Hire a bike to Vintgar Gorge's natural canyon, explore Bled Castle above the lake, or catch a pletna wooden boat to the island to ring the iconic church's wishing bell. Ask your leader for recommendations.

• Transport: TRANSPORT IN EUROPE: Half the fun of travel is the travelling itself, that's why we like to travel the local way – whether that means mingling with commuters on a local train, watching the scenery roll by from the window of a long distance bus, arriving on a high speed train in the city centre of your next destination, or navigating each city's public transport system. In Europe, you are guaranteed to travel by genuine local public transport wherever possible, which puts you right in the centre of the action., EUROPEAN TRAINS: The primary means of transportation on this trip is by train. Train travel is a fast way to traverse long distances, allowing you to avoid traffic jams and arrive right into the city centre. Trains are comfortable and often decked out with air-conditioning, toilets, a snack bar (or vending machine) and power points. PUBLIC BUSES: This trip covers some distances by public buses. • Accommodation: The style of accommodation indicated in the day-to-day itinerary is a guideline only and may change. On some occasions, alternative arrangements may need to be made due to the lack of availability of rooms in our preferred accommodation. In these cases, we will use a similar standard of accommodation. Throughout the trip, we request that our properties prepare rooms in time for our arrival, especially if we're arriving prior to normal check-in time. However, this isn't always possible which means we won't be able to check-in immediately on arrival at some hotels. Instead, we can store our luggage and explore our new destination or on some trips, have use of shared day rooms until all rooms are available., OCCASIONAL ALTERNATIVE ACCOMMODATION: The style of accommodation indicated in the day-to-day itinerary is a guideline. On rare occasions, alternative arrangements may need to be made due to the lack of availability of rooms in our usual accommodation. A similar standard of accommodation will be used in these instances. CHECK-IN TIME: Throughout the trip we request that our hotels prepare rooms in time for our arrival, especially if we're arriving prior to normal check-in time.
