About this trip
This is a seven-day trek up Kilimanjaro via the Machame Route, widely rated as one of the mountain's most scenic paths to the summit. You move point to point, camping at a new spot each night as the terrain and altitude change around you.
It's tougher going than the Marangu route, but the extra days built in for acclimatization actually give you a better shot at reaching the top. It rewards those who want a proper physical challenge rather than the easiest way up.
What you'll do
- Trek the Machame Route to the summit of Kilimanjaro
- Camp at a different point on the mountain each night
- Follow an acclimatization schedule built to improve summit success
- Take in some of Kilimanjaro's most scenic trekking terrain
- More physically demanding than the Marangu route, though the pacing is designed to help your body adjust
- Point-to-point trek — you're moving and changing camp most days rather than basing in one spot
