About this trip
Ten days through Western and Central Bhutan, moving between Thimphu, Punakha, Wangdue, Phobjikha Valley, Trongsa, Bumthang and Paro. Expect a mix of ancient monasteries, dzongs (fortresses) and village life rather than a single-destination stay.
Days include moderate hikes through valleys, pine forest and Himalayan trails, building up to the climb to Tiger's Nest Monastery above Paro. Alongside the walking there's plenty of straightforward sightseeing and time to take in Bhutanese culture at a fairly gentle pace.
Good for travellers who want a genuine feel for Bhutan's landscapes and traditions without a demanding trekking schedule.
