Kilimanjaro Climb-Lemosho Route 7 Days

Start & end in Moshi 7 days Up to 15

About this trip

Lemosho is one of the more scenic ways up Kilimanjaro, approaching through remote rainforest on the western side of the mountain rather than the busier routes most climbers take.

Over seven days you cross the Shira Plateau and trace the southern circuit, which puts you on the mountain longer than the shortest options and gives your body more time to adjust to altitude. The trail then swings east for the final push to the summit before dropping down via the Mweka trail.

This is a private, fully guided climb, so the pace and support are built around your group rather than a fixed departure of strangers.

What you'll do

  • Start the climb at Londorossi Gate through fertile rainforest
  • Cross the wide-open Shira Plateau
  • Follow the southern circuit for views from multiple sides of the mountain
  • Summit via the eastern approach
  • Descend through the Mweka trail
Good to know
  • Seven days on this route gives a somewhat better acclimatization schedule than the shorter six-day version, though it's still less time than an eight-day itinerary would allow
  • Fully guided and private, so it runs as your own group rather than joining others
  • This is a camping-based trek, not hut accommodation
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you want fewer crowds, excellent guides, and proper acclimatisation time. Think twice if climbing in wet season without premium gear.

  • Lemosho route genuinely less crowded than alternatives with landscape variety from rainforest to alpine desert.
  • Seven days allows proper altitude acclimatisation; guides actively manage pace and spacing to prevent sickness.
  • Wet season gear (sleeping bags, tents, duffels) failed to stay dry; company acknowledged defects but replacements only after trip.
  • Daily medical checks, guide flexibility to reschedule summit day for weather, and porters' behind-the-scenes effort are standard practice here.
