Everest Base Camp Trek via Gokyo Lakes & Cho La Pass

This 17-day trek combines the classic route to Everest Base Camp with a loop through the Gokyo Lakes and over the Cho La Pass, so you see the Khumbu from more than one angle before rejoining the main trail up to Kalapatthar.

You walk through Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO-listed stretch of the Himalayas, staying in sherpa villages and passing through Tengboche, home to the region's oldest and largest monastery. It is a long, high-altitude trek that rewards patience with close-up views of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu and Cho Oyu.

This is a private, fully guided trip, so the pace and rest days can flex a little around your fitness and the group's needs, though the altitude itself sets the real limits.

What you'll do

• Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla to start the trek
• Cross the Cho La Pass between the Khumbu and Gokyo valleys
• Walk the Gokyo Lakes and climb Gokyo Ri for views over the Ngozumpa Glacier
• Reach Everest Base Camp and climb Kalapatthar for sunrise views of Everest
