About this trip
This is the classic route to Everest Base Camp, starting with a short flight into Lukla and then a walk up the Dudh Koshi valley into the Khumbu region. You will pass through Sherpa villages, forests of rhododendron and magnolia, and gain your first real views of Everest as the trail climbs toward Namche Bazaar.
From Namche the trek continues past Tyangboche Monastery and up through Lobuche and Gorak Shep, following the glacier to Base Camp itself, at the foot of the Khumbu icefall. It is a demanding walk at altitude, but one built around a steady, well-established acclimatisation route rather than anything technical.
This is a private, fully guided trip, so pacing and support are built around your group rather than a fixed departure of strangers.
What you'll do
- Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla to start the trek
- Walk the Dudh Koshi valley through Sherpa villages and rhododendron forest
- Reach Namche Bazaar, the trading hub of the Khumbu region
- Visit Tyangboche Monastery on its mountain ridge
- Trek via Lobuche and Gorak Shep to Everest Base Camp
- See Everest up close at the foot of the Khumbu icefall
- High-altitude trekking over multiple days — good fitness and prior hiking experience matter
- Private and fully guided, so the itinerary can flex around your group
- Best walked in early autumn or late spring for clearer views and forest flowers
Worth it if you're fit enough for high altitude and want a properly organised trek with genuinely competent local guides. Think twice if you need flexibility—this is a fixed 14-day commitment with early starts and long daily walks.
- Guides and porters consistently praised as knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely friendly throughout the trek.
- Lodges and meals well-managed; variety of food choices and decent accommodation provided throughout the trek.
- End-to-end service impressive: airport pickups, cultural dinners in Kathmandu, and responsive management to questions.
- Described as a challenging trek; altitude and daily walking distance demand reasonable fitness before booking.
