About this trip
This is a road-trip style tour through some of Nepal's best-known lowland and hill destinations, mixing city sightseeing with easy walking, wildlife, and a bit of adventure. You cover Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Pokhara, and Chitwan, without any high-altitude trekking involved.
Expect early starts for sunrise views, a night camping by the Trishuli River, and a couple of days in Chitwan National Park for jungle safari and Tharu culture. Around Pokhara you'll do short, gentle treks to Dhampus and Sarangkot rather than anything technical.
It's built with families in mind — most travel is by road, the walking is manageable for children and older travellers, and there's room to add optional adventure sports like paragliding or zip-lining in Pokhara if you fancy it.
What you'll do
- Tour the historic squares and temples of Kathmandu and Bhaktapur
- Catch sunrise over the Himalaya from Nagarkot and Sarangkot
- White water raft the Trishuli River and camp overnight on its banks
- Jungle safari, bird watching, and a Tharu cultural show in Chitwan National Park
- Easy treks to Dhampus and Sarangkot village with Annapurna and Dhaulagiri views
- Optional paragliding, zip flying, or hot air ballooning in Pokhara
- Mostly road transport between destinations rather than flights
- The Dhampus and Sarangkot walks are gentle enough for children and older travellers
- Spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November) give the clearest mountain views; winter can bring mist and summer brings slippery monsoon trails
Worth it if you want genuine local immersion with exceptional guides and flexibility. Think twice if you need luxury accommodation or predictable weather.
- Guides like Hari and Sujan go genuinely above and beyond, sharing deep cultural knowledge and adapting plans when weather shifts.
- Owner Shailesh handles logistics seamlessly from airport pickup through the full 11 days, staying contactable and solving problems quickly.
- Some teahouses and hotels are in poor condition; rainy weather is common and impacts visibility of sights despite guide solutions.
- The tour packs multiple regions into 11 days, offering breadth but meaning daily schedules are full and travel time is substantial.
