About this trip
This trip links India and Nepal in one route, taking in the Taj Mahal, the pink-hued streets of Jaipur, a sunrise boat ride on the Ganges, and the temples and stupas of the Kathmandu Valley.
You travel in a private AC vehicle with an English-speaking driver for the India legs, with knowledgeable local guides joining for sightseeing, and a flight between Kathmandu and Delhi.
Beyond the cities there's a safari in Chitwan National Park for one-horned rhinos, a mountain flight towards Everest, and the option to try paragliding in Pokhara — a mix of culture, wildlife and Himalayan scenery.
What you'll do
- See the Taj Mahal at sunrise or sunset in Agra
- Take a boat ride on the Ganges at dawn and dusk in Varanasi
- Ride a rickshaw through the lanes of Old Delhi
- Spot one-horned rhinos on safari in Chitwan National Park
- Explore the UNESCO monuments of Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur
- Take a mountain flight for views of Mount Everest
- Partially guided — a driver and local guides handle logistics, but you're not led by one guide throughout
- Moderate pace covering two countries, so expect regular travel days between stops
- Includes an internal flight between Delhi and Kathmandu
Worth it if you value seamless organisation, attentive drivers and solid mid-range hotels. Think twice if you dislike long road days through congested Indian cities.
- Drivers consistently praised for careful, professional driving and genuine helpfulness; one went out of pocket for medication.
- Tour operator responsive and proactive; resolved hotel issues instantly and stayed in constant touch throughout trip.
- Road journeys between cities are long and slow due to traffic congestion, particularly Agra to Varanasi routes.
- Optional add-ons like Everest flights, Chitwan safari and cooking classes well-organised but cost extra beyond package.
