About this trip
Five days coast to coast across Tasmania, taking in the wild west, the alpine landscape around Cradle Mountain, and the white sands of the east coast. It moves at a fair clip, but the focus stays on nature and short walks rather than long coach transfers for their own sake.
You'll see waterfalls and rainforest on the West Coast, spot local wildlife, then cross to the very different scenery of Bay of Fires, Wineglass Bay and Freycinet National Park. It's a small group tour, run on an eco-certified basis, with walks pitched to suit a range of fitness levels.
What you'll do
- Waterfalls and rainforest walks on Tasmania's West Coast
- Wildlife spotting along the way
- Alpine scenery at Cradle Mountain
- White sands and granite coastline at Bay of Fires
- Wineglass Bay and Freycinet National Park
- Coast to coast in five days, so travel time each day is significant
- Walks are short and pitched to different fitness levels rather than serious trekking
- Starts and finishes in Hobart
Worth it if you're after iconic Tasmanian sights with a sociable, mixed-age group and don't mind basic hostel digs. Think twice if you prefer a slower pace—the itinerary packs a lot in.
- Guides (Joe, Keygan, Gareth, Phil, Antony) consistently excellent: knowledgeable, funny, relatable across age gaps.
- Group dynamic genuinely special—strangers become friends; ages 19–76, multiple nationalities, everyone gets along.
- Days feel packed; one reviewer noted rushed pacing and 'maybe one too many stops' despite loving the sights.
- Accommodation basic but clean; optional extras like Strahan river cruise and theatre play worth the extra cost.
