About this trip

Seven days overland from Uluru to Adelaide, through the Red Centre and into South Australia's outback. This is a small-group camping trip led by a Storyteller Guide, built around walking the landscapes rather than just looking at them.

You'll walk beside Uluru and through the domes of Kata Tjuṯa with Aṉangu culture as your guide, then tackle the rim of Kings Canyon before heading south. In Coober Pedy you sleep underground in a bunkhouse dugout and can try your hand at noodling for opals.

The last stretch takes you into the Ikara-Flinders Ranges for hiking, ancient rock art at Arkaroo Rock, and nights spent under some genuinely dark, clear skies.

What you'll do

  • Walk beside Uluru's red walls and learn Aṉangu stories
  • Hike between the domes of Kata Tjuṯa on a sacred desert trail
  • Take on the Kings Canyon Rim Walk
  • Sleep underground in a Coober Pedy dugout and try noodling for opals
  • Hike trails through the Ikara-Flinders Ranges
  • See ancient Aboriginal rock art at Arkaroo Rock
Good to know
  • Camping-based trip with some nights underground in Coober Pedy
  • Involves real hiking, including the Kings Canyon Rim Walk, so a reasonable level of fitness helps
  • Field of Light at Uluru is an optional extra, not included as standard
