About this trip
Seven days that take you from Lima's coastline to the high Andes, covering a lot of ground without much doubling back. You start with the desert landscapes of Paracas and Ica, then fly up to Cusco for Inca archaeology, Machu Picchu and a climb to Rainbow Mountain.
The coast section mixes Paracas marine wildlife with dune buggy rides across the sand at Huacachina, so you get ocean and desert in quick succession. Then the trip shifts entirely once you reach the Andes, with Machu Picchu, the Sacred Valley and Moray and Maras on the itinerary.
It's a fully guided small-group trip with domestic flights and airport transfers included, built to fit a lot of Peru's highlights into one week.
What you'll do
- See Humboldt penguins and sea lions on a Paracas boat trip
- Ride dune buggies across the sand at Huacachina
- Explore Machu Picchu with a bilingual guide, then take the panoramic train through the Sacred Valley
- Walk Moray's circular terraces and the Maras salt mines, still worked by local families using Inca methods
- Climb to the 5,020 m summit of Rainbow Mountain
- Fast-paced with a lot of altitude change — Rainbow Mountain sits at over 5,000 m
- Groups capped at 16 people
- Three-star hotels in Miraflores, Cusco and Aguas Calientes, with entrance tickets pre-booked
Worth it if you want Peru's highlights seamlessly coordinated with strong guides. Think twice if you dislike early starts and packed daily schedules.
- Guides consistently knowledgeable and passionate; Yeny and Hernesto specifically praised for making history engaging.
- Logistics genuinely impressive: airport pickups, centrally located hotels, daily office check-ins, everything runs on time.
- Very packed schedule with early pickup times; one reviewer noted this explicitly, though deemed it worth the tradeoff.
- Solo and family travellers both felt safe and supported; no planning stress means you hand over all control.
