Everest Base Camp (13 Nights 14 Days) Trek

Start & end in Kathmandu 14 days Up to 35

About this trip

Fourteen days in the Khumbu region of Nepal, walking the trail to Everest Base Camp through Sherpa villages, pine forests and high alpine valleys with the world's highest peaks as a constant backdrop.

This is the classic route once walked by Hillary and Tenzing Norgay, and it still draws trekkers for good reason: the scale of the landscape, the monasteries and prayer flags along the way, and the sense of arriving somewhere that has to be earned on foot.

Fully guided throughout, with acclimatisation built into the schedule as you gain altitude day by day.

What you'll do

  • Trek to Everest Base Camp at the foot of the world's highest mountain
  • Pass through Sherpa villages including Namche Bazaar and Tengboche
  • Take in views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Ama Dablam along the route
  • Walk trails first used by Hillary and Tenzing Norgay's 1953 expedition
  • Visit Tengboche Monastery, one of the region's key spiritual sites
Good to know
  • High-altitude trekking with built-in acclimatisation days — a reasonable level of fitness is needed
  • Fully guided group trek, so pace and route are set for you
  • Available over Christmas and New Year for those wanting to spend the holidays on the trail
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you're prepared for serious altitude and want guides who genuinely look after you. Think twice if you need hand-holding through logistics or want a seamlessly organized experience from door to door.

  • Guides like Kami and Phubar show real care: adjusting acclimatization days, managing altitude sickness efficiently, beating you to tea houses.
  • Solo travellers: logistics can fall apart. Ramecchap airport chaos, unclear about porter inclusion, assumed coverage that wasn't explicitly confirmed beforehand.
  • Monsoon season brings landslides and heavy rain. Dry season (likely Oct-Nov, Mar-May) is strongly preferable for actual trekking conditions.
  • You need genuine fitness beforehand. Multiple reviews stress this is genuinely difficult; training hard is non-negotiable, not optional.
