About this trip

Nine days across Kenya and Uganda that takes in some of East Africa's best-known wildlife spots, from the Rift Valley lakes to the forests where mountain gorillas live.

You move between Lake Nakuru, Amboseli and the Masai Mara before crossing into Uganda for gorilla trekking, with a stop on the River Nile along the way.

It's a wildlife-focused route rather than a slow one — plenty of ground covered, with each stop built around a specific animal encounter.

Depart Nairobi at 8am, stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint, descend the escarpment via Narok to Masai Mara. Lunch at Enkerok Camp followed by an afternoon game drive to spot black-maned lions and migrating wildebeest. Overnight at Enkerok Camp.
Spend the full day game viewing across Masai Mara's grassland and rolling hills. See plain herds, lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants and other Kenyan wildlife. All meals and overnight at Enkerok Camp.
Early game drive before breakfast, return for late breakfast, then drive to Lake Nakuru with lunch at Mai Mahiu en route. Arrive late afternoon and check into Nakuru City Max Hotel for dinner and overnight.
Morning game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park to see flamingoes and water birds. Drive to Amboseli National Park with lunch en route. Dinner and overnight at Nyati Camp.
Full day in Amboseli with packed picnic lunch. Optional visit to a Maasai village to see traditional life and dances. Meals and overnight at Nyati Camp.
Leave Amboseli after breakfast, drive to Nairobi arriving early afternoon with picnic lunch en route. Check into a budget hotel for rest before evening bus transfer to Kampala.
Picked up from Kampala bus station after 7am breakfast. Visit a local drum and craft community, stop at the Equator for photos and souvenirs, lunch in Mbarara town. Arrive Bwindi Impenetrable late afternoon, check into Bwindi View Lodge for dinner.
Early breakfast, briefing at park headquarters, divided into groups of eight. Gorilla trek through the park to watch mountain gorillas feeding and moving; trek duration ranges from two to eight hours depending on gorilla location and movement, requiring a walking stick for muddy, steep terrain.
Early breakfast, depart Bwindi through rolling terraced hills with lush vegetation. Lunch in Mbarara, stop at Mbambire drum makers point to buy drums. Arrive Kampala late afternoon for hotel drop-off or airport transfer home.
