What travellers actually say

Worth it if you want genuine wildlife encounters and don't mind unpaved roads. Think twice if you need comfort or predictable sleep.

  • Guides consistently excellent at spotting wildlife and fulfilling requests; rangers actively network to locate animals.
  • All five big animals sighted; Maasai Mara and Amboseli deliver close, unscripted encounters with elephants and monkeys.
  • Most roads between parks unpaved and rough; nighttime wildlife noise (hyenas) may prevent sleep at camps.
  • Bring sweets or snacks for local children at villages; consider how you want to engage with Maasai communities.
