About this trip

Twelve days across Kenya and Tanzania, tracking wildlife by 4WD through some of East Africa's best-known parks. You move between the Maasai Mara and the Serengeti, with a stop at the Ngorongoro Crater along the way.

It's a proper game-drive trip — long days scanning the plains, with the Great Migration as a key draw depending on timing. There's also a chance to meet the Maasai and learn about their way of life alongside the wildlife side of things.

What you'll do

  • Game drives across the Maasai Mara
  • Cross into Tanzania to explore the Serengeti plains
  • Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater
  • Track the Great Migration
  • Visit a Maasai community
Good to know
  • Covers two countries by 4WD, so expect long driving days between parks
  • Great Migration sightings depend on timing and season, not guaranteed

What travellers actually say

Worth it if you want authentic wildlife viewing with knowledgeable guides and can handle rough roads and basic camping. Think twice if you have back issues or need creature comforts.

  • Guides consistently identified Big 5 and birds with remarkable skill; Samson specifically praised multiple times for knowledge and patience.
  • Rural road conditions are genuinely rough; uncomfortable jeep rides can aggravate bad backs despite guide accommodation efforts.
  • Wildebeest migration timing is not guaranteed; pack warm clothes for cold nights and bring binoculars for better wildlife viewing.
  • Basic campsites deliver authentic African wilderness experience; food quality and organisation consistently exceeded expectations across reviews.
