Annapurna Base Camp Trek

Kathmandu → Pokhara 6 days Up to 12

About this trip

This six-day trek takes you into the Annapurna Sanctuary, walking through terraced farmland and forest up to Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130m, with Mt Annapurna and the sacred Machapuchhre (Fishtail) peak rising above you the whole way.

It's a fast version of a classic route, so days are long and the altitude gain is quick, but you still pass through Gurung villages like Chhomrong where you'll get a real sense of local life and hospitality.

Expect a mix of mountain scenery, changing landscape and genuine cultural contact rather than a slow, meandering walk.

What you'll do

  • Trek to Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130m
  • Views of Mt Annapurna and Machapuchhre (Fishtail) throughout
  • Pass through Gurung villages including Chhomrong
  • Walk through terraced fields and forest with varied flora and fauna
  • Guided throughout by a local trekking team
Good to know
  • Six days is a compressed schedule for ABC, so expect long walking days and quick altitude gain
  • Best suited to travellers who are reasonably fit and comfortable with fast-paced trekking
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you want exceptional value, skilled guides and porters who genuinely care, and stunning mountain views. Think twice if you need luxury lodges or responsive booking communication.

  • Guides and porters consistently described as exceptionally helpful, patient, and caring—treating trekkers like friends.
  • Outstanding value at around $800 USD for 7-8 days including all meals, guides, porters, transport, and accommodation.
  • Booking through Tour Radar caused significant delays and poor communication; insurance disputes required paying twice.
  • Lodges are basic and rustic, not hotels; late December offers fewer tourists, good weather, but nights hit -12 to -15°C.
