About this trip
Five days to reach Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130m, one of the shortest ways to stand under the Annapurna range and see it properly. This is a moderate trek, open to those with reasonable general fitness rather than technical mountain experience.
The route climbs through Gurung and Thakali villages, past rhododendron and orchid forest, cascading waterfalls, and changing terrain, before reaching Machhapuchhre Base Camp and then Annapurna Base Camp itself, with views of Annapurna, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Hiunchuli, and Dhaulagiri.
Along the way there's a chance to spot wildlife such as Himalayan thar, musk deer, and monal pheasant, and to soak in the hot springs at Jhinu Danda on the way back down.
What you'll do
- Reach Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130m
- Pass through Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC)
- Walk through ethnic villages including Chhomrong, Matkyu, and Bamboo
- Soak in the hot springs at Jhinu Danda
- Watch for Himalayan thar, musk deer, and monal pheasant along the trail
- A fast-paced itinerary — five days is a short window to trek to 4,130m and back, so expect long walking days
- Rated moderate, suited to trekkers with general fitness rather than technical experience
- Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the best seasons for clear mountain views
Worth it if you've got 5 days and want Himalayan peaks without weeks away. Think twice if you're very unfit—altitude hits hard and guides can't fix that.
- Guides consistently adapt itineraries to your pace and needs, even carrying your pack if altitude sickness strikes.
- Staff arrange heating, blankets, and private rooms; logistics handled smoothly from transport through teahouse bookings.
- Altitude sickness is real and unpredictable; one trekker needed a private room and close monitoring at base camp.
- Weather can be variable—snow possible, but also clear skies; pack accordingly and trust guides on conditions.
