About this trip
This is eight days based in Bomerano, a quiet village above the Amalfi Coast, using a family-run hotel as your base for a series of guided walks along one of Italy's most dramatic coastlines.
You'll walk between cliffs and the sea, through fishing towns and terraced hillsides, with the Path of the Gods as the standout day. There's also time off the trail for Pompeii, Mount Vesuvius, and the towns of Positano, Ravello and Amalfi.
The hotel itself is part of the draw — it's exclusive to this operator, with home cooking and a pizza-making demonstration, and a genuine sense of place rather than a generic base.
What you'll do
- Walk the Path of the Gods above the coast
- Explore Positano, Ravello and Amalfi
- Visit the ruins of Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius
- Stay at a family-run hotel in the village of Bomerano
- Join a pizza-making demonstration with the hotel family
- Rated moderate — expect consistent walking with some steep, uneven coastal paths
- Centre-based, so you stay in one village throughout rather than moving hotels each night
- A separate, easier summer edition exists for July and August travel, with shorter walks and a boat trip to Positano
Worth it if you're a moderate-to-strong hiker seeking guided cultural immersion with excellent staff. Think twice if you expect casual walking or need flat terrain.
- Hikes are strenuous: 2000+ steps daily, 8 miles per day, steep elevation. Expect significant knee, quad, hip pain.
- Guides are exceptional—knowledgeable, personal, and genuinely invested. Roberta, Paulo, Veriano consistently praised for going above and beyond.
- One-hotel base with excellent staff creates rare comfort; mozzarella-making and cooking demos with chefs included, not extras.
- Dining room gets loud with 3-4 Exodus groups simultaneous. Group bonding happens on walks and pre-dinner drinks instead.
