Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek with Wildlife Adventure

This trip pairs a classic Himalayan trek with a few days of jungle wildlife in the lowlands, so you get both mountain views and a completely different landscape and pace on the same trip.

You walk from Nayapul through oak and rhododendron forest to Ghorepani, climbing Poon Hill for sunrise over the Annapurna range before dropping through subtropical valleys towards Ghandruk. From there you head south to Chitwan National Park for a slower few days of river life, wildlife and village culture.

It's a private, partially guided trip, so the pace and any tweaks along the way are flexible rather than fixed to a big group schedule.

What you'll do

• Watch sunrise from Poon Hill (3200m) with views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre and Nilgiri
• Trek through oak and rhododendron forest between Tikhedhunga and Ghorepani
• Pass subtropical valleys, dense rhododendron woods and frozen waterfalls on the way to Ghandruk
• Visit Chitwan National Park's visitor centre and spend time on the Rapti River
• Watch a Tharu cultural dance performed by local villagers
• Look out for elephants bathing or go birdwatching along the river beach
