About this trip
North of Kathmandu, this trek takes you through Tamang and Sherpa villages into a landscape that shifts from temperate forest to alpine pasture, glacial valleys and snow peaks. It's a route that mixes culture and mountain scenery without needing to venture far from the capital.
You start in the Helambu Valley, known for its gentler climate and views, staying in small settlements and monastery villages tucked into the forest. From there a mountain pass leads you up and over into the Langtang valley, passing the sacred lake of Gosainkunda on the way.
What you'll do
- Walk through Tamang and Sherpa villages in the Helambu Valley
- Stay overnight in highland monastery settlements
- Cross a high mountain pass connecting Helambu and Langtang
- See the glacial lake of Gosainkunda
- Trek through the Langtang valley beneath snow-capped peaks
- Pass through temperate forest and alpine pasture along the route
