Yukon Winter Retreat: Aurora, Wildlife & Nordic Hot Springs from Vancouver

Four days based in Whitehorse, built around dark skies and cold-weather wildlife, with the Aurora Borealis as the main draw rather than a bonus extra.

You're out of the city most evenings, watching for the lights from a dedicated viewing spot with a wood stove or campfire to keep you warm between sightings. Days are slower paced, with a wildlife visit and a soak in natural hot springs to balance the late nights.

This is a small-group trip with your own room throughout, and enough structure to get you to the right places without every hour being planned for you.

What you'll do

• Watch for the Aurora Borealis on successive nights from the AuroraCentre viewing site
• Warm up by a wood stove or open campfire between light shows
• Visit the Yukon Wildlife Preserve to see and photograph animals in their natural habitat
• Soak in nordic-style hot springs
• Base yourself in Whitehorse with mountain views from your hotel
