About this trip
Nine days across northern Laos, moving from the temples and river life of Luang Prabang up through the hills to Luang Namtha and back down to Vientiane. Trains link much of the route, so travel days double as a chance to watch the countryside change from limestone peaks to forest.
Expect a mix of old towns, caves, waterfalls and a proper trek to hill tribe villages near Muong Sing, with one night at an eco-resort thrown in for good measure. It is as much about the landscape between stops as the sights themselves.
