About this trip
Three days in Luang Prabang, the old royal capital where French colonial streets sit alongside gilded temples and the Mekong river. It's a slower-paced base for taking in the city's history and the waterfalls and caves just outside town.
Expect a mix of temple visits, a boat trip to a cave full of Buddha statues, and a proper break at Kuang Si Waterfalls, plus the chance to see the city's early-morning alms-giving ritual and its night market.
What you'll do
- Visit the Pak Ou Caves and their thousands of Buddha statues
- Swim in the pools at Kuang Si Waterfalls
- Browse the night market and try local street food
- Tour the Royal Palace Museum and the temples of Wat Xieng Thong and Wat Mai
- Watch the alms-giving ceremony at dawn
- Climb Mount Phousi for views over the Mekong and surrounding hills
- A short trip focused on Luang Prabang itself rather than wider Laos
- Early start if you want to see the alms-giving ceremony
