About this trip
Eight days across Oman, taking in the capital's grand architecture, dramatic wadis, desert dunes, and mountain canyons on a private tour built around your own pace.
You start in Muscat with its mosques and souqs, then move through the coast and countryside to Wadi Arbaeen, the Bimmah Sinkhole, and the rolling dunes of Wahiba Sands. The route climbs to Jebel Shams, Oman's highest point, for views over what's often called the Grand Canyon of Oman.
This is a private trip, so it's just you (and whoever you're travelling with), with guiding on the key cultural stops and open road time in between.
What you'll do
- Half-day tour of Muscat including Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque and Muttrah Souq
- Swim or wander at Wadi Arbaeen
- See the Bimmah Sinkhole
- Spend time in the desert landscapes of Wahiba Sands
- Drive up to Jebel Shams for canyon and mountain views
- Private and partially guided — expect a mix of guided stops and independent travel time
- Rated easy, so pace is manageable without long treks or physical strain
- Suited to families or small private groups rather than solo travellers looking to meet others
Worth it if you value a relaxed pace with excellent guides and diverse Omani landscapes. Think twice if you need structured early starts or prefer larger group dynamics.
- Guide quality is genuinely exceptional—Ali, Sayeed, and Said consistently praised for knowledge, flexibility, driving skill, and WhatsApp availability.
- No early starts, reasonable driving days with regular stops, and free afternoons/evenings give you breathing room to explore at your own pace.
- Standout experiences: turtle watching at Ras al Jinz, Nizwa, Jabel Shams canyon rides, and desert camp stays genuinely impress across reviews.
- Accommodation varies in style; bring water shoes, towel, and warm layers for mountains—practical prep makes the wadi swimming and Jabel Shams worthwhile.
