About this trip
This 13-day trek takes you into the Annapurna Sanctuary, a natural amphitheatre of peaks in the Nepalese Himalayas, on foot, staying in mountain teahouses along the way.
You walk through rhododendron forest and Gurung and Magar villages, with manageable daily distances rather than forced marches, before reaching Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130m surrounded by Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchhre and Gangapurna.
A licensed local guide leads the group throughout, with health monitoring and acclimatisation built into the pace. No technical climbing experience is needed, but you should be a reasonably fit, regular walker.
What you'll do
- Reach Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130m
- Watch sunrise over the mountains from Poon Hill
- Pass through traditional Gurung villages
- Walk through rhododendron forests
- Stand at Machhapuchhre Base Camp
- Soak in natural hot springs, depending on season and itinerary
- Small group trekking with a licensed English-speaking guide throughout
- You sleep in mountain teahouses, not hotels, for the trekking days
- Daily health and acclimatisation checks are part of the itinerary, and the pace is adjusted if needed
Worth it if you want attentive guides who genuinely look after you at altitude. Think twice if you need budget accommodation—reviews don't mention costs or basic comforts.
- Guides carry bags at altitude, check on you constantly, offer unsolicited photos, and stay contactable at night.
- Pre-trek liaison from office staff (Dipendra) covers packing advice and airport pickups before you even arrive.
- Reviews mention add-on activities (river rafting, paragliding, Kathmandu sightseeing) but don't clarify if included or extra costs.
- Porter and guide teams actively adjust pace and route for lower-fitness groups without making it feel like a slog.
