About this trip
Three days across three distinct pockets of northern Botswana: the Boteti River, Moremi Game Reserve and the Khwai Community Concession. You start with a transfer from Maun to the Boteti riverbank, then move through Moremi's game-rich bush before finishing in Khwai's floodplains.
Wildlife viewing happens both on land and water — open-vehicle game drives with a ranger, plus mokoro trips gliding past hippos and crocodiles at sunset and through lily channels in daylight. Moremi is known for its lion, leopard and wild dog populations, and Khwai adds hyena den activity and the bare trunks of Dead Tree Island to the mix.
Accommodation shifts as you go: elevated tents overlooking the Boteti River, then a choice in Khwai between simple dome camping under the stars or an upgraded tented lodge.
What you'll do
- Sunset mokoro excursion on the Boteti River, past hippos and crocodiles
- Open-vehicle game drives through Moremi Game Reserve
- Mokoro safari through Khwai's lily-covered floodplain channels
- Visit Dead Tree Island's skeletal acacias
- Watch hyena activity at local dens in the Mogotho area
- Fast-paced for three days — you cover Boteti, Moremi and Khwai in that time, moving base each day
- In Khwai you choose between dome camping or an upgraded tented lodge, so let the operator know your preference
- Game viewing mixes vehicle safaris with mokoro (traditional canoe) outings, so expect some early starts and time on water

Worth it if you want guided wildlife in a comfortable lodge with excellent staff and meals. Think twice if you're budget-conscious or expect deep Okavango Delta immersion.
- Guide Kay and staff were punctual, attentive and genuinely made safety and comfort the priority throughout.
- Three-hour each way drives on bumpy unpacked roads to Moremi; multiple reviewers felt the cost didn't justify limited actual delta access.
- Extreme temperature swings: scorching days, freezing nights. A hot water bottle transforms sleep quality; ask for one immediately.
- Lodge is genuinely comfortable with good meals and desserts; three days hits the sweet spot before fatigue sets in.
