About this trip
Based in the ski resort town of Soldeu, this eight-day trip mixes hiking, cycling, whitewater rafting and zip-lining across Andorra's stretch of the Pyrenees. You stay in one place throughout, heading out each day with specialist guides for a different activity.
Days are built around getting outdoors and moving: mountain trails through Didcaro National Park, valley cycling routes including the historic Iron Route, and Class 3 rapids near Sort. It's a genuinely active week rather than a scenic sightseeing one.
You'll be back at a family-run chalet-hotel each night, known locally for hearty food and a warm welcome after a full day on the trails or water.
What you'll do
- Hike through Didcaro National Park with snow-capped peaks around you
- Cycle valley roads and the historic Iron Route
- Raft Class 3 rapids on the river near Sort
- Zip-line through the treetops
- Stay in a family-run chalet-hotel in Soldeu with a local host on hand
- A moderate level of fitness is needed to keep up with the hiking, cycling and rafting
- You'll need to be a confident swimmer to take part in the rafting
- Getting to Soldeu involves a transfer of up to 3.5–4 hours from Toulouse or Barcelona airports
Worth it if you're moderately fit and want stunning scenery with varied activities in one base. Think twice if you're very unfit, seeking serious mountain biking, or need crystal-clear upfront difficulty ratings.
- Guide Antoine and hotel hosts Nick and Nuria genuinely make the trip; their knowledge, warmth, and cooking elevate everything significantly.
- Hikes are genuinely challenging; multiple reviewers wish fitness demands and difficulty levels were clearer before booking.
- Biking is off-road terrain, not technical mountain biking; avid bikers may find it underwhelming.
- Base at one excellent hotel with free day to explore means you unpack once yet experience varied daily activities.
