Private Inca Trail to Machu Picchu

Start & end in Cusco 4 days Up to 16

About this trip

This is a private version of the classic Inca Trail, with your own guide, chef and porters rather than joining a fixed group. That means the pace and schedule can flex around who you're travelling with, whether that's family, a couple, or a small group of friends.

Over four days you walk the trail to Machu Picchu, camping along the way with proper gear and freshly cooked Peruvian meals each day. You arrive at the Sun Gate for sunrise before heading into the citadel itself, and finish the trip on the Vistadome train back through the Andes.

What you'll do

  • Walk the Inca Trail with a private guide, chef, and porter team
  • Watch the sunrise from the Sun Gate before entering Machu Picchu
  • Guided tour of the citadel on Circuit 1 or 3
  • Camp each night with quality tents and freshly prepared meals
  • Return by Vistadome train with views across the Andes
Good to know
  • Private trip, so timing and pace can be adjusted to suit your group
  • Multi-day camping trek — you'll need a reasonable level of fitness
  • Option to have a private tent or share, worth checking which applies to your booking
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you're fit enough for a serious physical challenge and value exceptional service. Think twice if you need easier terrain or budget accommodation.

  • Guide quality consistently outstanding: knowledgeable about Incan history, plants, genuinely caring and funny.
  • Porter and chef team set up camps ahead, handle all gear, produce plentiful amazing food daily.
  • Physically demanding trek catches people off guard; expect genuine exhaustion despite light pack.
  • Private trek means premium pricing; worth it for service level but not budget option.
