   Day 1 · JohannesburgSoweto, Nelson Mandela Bridge, Apartheid Museum

   

   Start in Soweto, the sprawling township of roughly 2 million people on Johannesburg's south-west edge, crossing the Nelson Mandela Bridge to reach the Apartheid Museum in the Newtown Cultural District. You'll tour Constitution Hill and the Telkom Tower, then head to Vilakazi Street to explore the homes and legacies of Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu, both Nobel Peace Prize winners.

   Day 2 · PretoriaVoortrekker Monument, Union Buildings

   Pretoria, the administrative capital named after Voortrekker leader Andries Pretorius, is thick with historical landmarks and known as the Garden City for its flowering Jacaranda trees. Visit Church Square, the Kruger Statue, and the Voortrekker Monument to understand South Africa's pioneer and Afrikaner history.

   Day 3 · Cradle of HumankindThe Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve, Wonder Caves

   The Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve covers 1200 hectares within the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site, where you'll spot white lions, rhinos and over 650 head of game on a game drive. Optional activities include lion and cheetah feeding, snake displays and visits to the vulture hide; you'll also explore Wonder Caves, a natural formation 5–10 million years old with stalactites and stalagmites.

   Day 4 · Pilanesberg National ParkPilanesberg National Park game drive

   Pilanesberg National Park sits in the crater of an extinct volcano, where the Magaliesberg Mountain range—formed by ancient geological upheaval—acts as a meeting point for species from the bushveld and highveld. A game drive through this alkaline complex reveals the landscape shaped by volcanic eruptions millions of years ago.
