Experience Uganda Gorillas, Chimps, Golden monkeys & Big 5 (Exclusively Private)

Start & end in Entebbe 14 days Up to 6

About this trip

This is a private 14-day wildlife circuit through Uganda, built around the country's big draws: gorillas, chimps, golden monkeys and the Big Five. You move through several parks and reserves, tracking different species on foot as you go.

The route runs from Murchison Falls in the north down through Kibale, Queen Elizabeth and Ishasha, into Bwindi and Mgahinga for gorillas and golden monkeys, then finishes with a slower stretch at Lake Bunyonyi and Lake Mburo before heading back to Entebbe.

With everything private, the pace and group size are yours to shape, though this is still a lot of ground to cover with a new park or activity most days.

What you'll do

  • Track rhinos on foot at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
  • Search for chimpanzees in Kibale Forest
  • Look for tree-climbing lions in Ishasha
  • Trek through Bwindi to see mountain gorillas
  • Meet the Batwa community and see golden monkeys in Mgahinga
  • Wind down at Lake Bunyonyi and Lake Mburo
Good to know
  • Private trip, so timings and group size are flexible
  • Involves significant driving between parks over the 14 days
  • Gorilla and chimp tracking mean walking, sometimes over uneven terrain
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you're fit, love wildlife immersion, and want a guide who genuinely knows Uganda. Think twice if long drives on rough roads or physically demanding treks worry you.

  • Guide Emma's local knowledge, safety on bad roads, and flexible itinerary adaptations made the difference between a tour and understanding Uganda.
  • Gorilla trekking in Bwindi and chimp trekking in Kibale deliver genuinely magical close encounters with silverbacks and mothers you'll never forget.
  • Long drives on difficult, muddy roads and physically demanding mountain hikes like Rwenzori require real fitness and resilience.
  • Meal portions are generous; food quality is strong but you may find yourself overfed throughout the trip.
