About this trip
Twelve days across Uganda's national parks, built around two big wildlife encounters: gorillas in Bwindi and chimpanzees in Kibale, alongside proper game drives for the rest of the Big Five.
You'll cover a lot of ground, from the thundering base of Murchison Falls to the calmer waters of the Kazinga Channel, through savanna, forest and wetland in between.
It's a full itinerary rather than a slow-travel one, with the wildlife tracking as the clear centrepiece and the landscapes changing constantly around you.
What you'll do
- Track mountain gorillas on foot in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
- Trek chimpanzees in Kibale Forest
- Game drive through Murchison Falls, Queen Elizabeth and Ishasha in search of lion, elephant and buffalo
- Boat trip to the base of Murchison Falls, with the option to hike to the top
- Cruise the Kazinga Channel by boat, watching hippos and birdlife along the banks
- Look out for the shoebill stork in the marshlands
- Gorilla and chimp trekking involve hiking on uneven forest terrain, so a reasonable level of fitness helps
- Expect early starts for game drives and some long overland transfers between parks
- A wildlife-heavy itinerary suited to those who want maximum sightings over a compact trip
