About this trip
This is a lowland tour through Nepal's cultural core, from the busy streets of Kathmandu to the jungle of Chitwan National Park, without heading up into high altitude.
You'll spend time in temples and Buddhist sites, wander the cobbled lanes of small mountain towns, and meet local villagers and craftspeople along the way. There's also time set aside to look for wildlife in Chitwan.
It's a trip built around culture and history rather than trekking, with road travel between stops that can take longer than the map suggests.

- Guide: All group trips are accompanied by one of our group leader or local representative. The aim of the group leader or local representative is to take the hassle out of your travels and to help you have the best trip possible. Intrepid endeavours to provide the services of an experienced group leader or local representative however, due to the seasonality of travel, rare situations may arise where your group leader or local representative is new to a particular region or training other group leader or local representative. Nepalese air carriers are currently not permitted to operate within UK or European airspace, often referred to as being on the 'banned list' due to regulatory differences. However, we want to reassure you that your safety is our top priority. Intrepid is one of only a small number of tour operators that independently audits Nepalese air carriers each year, carrying out rigorous third‑party air safety assessments. We only work with airlines and helicopter operators that meet our strict internal safety standards and approval criteria. We strongly encourage you to review your government’s travel advice and to consider this information carefully when making your travel decisions, confident that we are taking every possible step to ensure your wellbeing., MONSOON: The monsoon season is from June to September and weather conditions can disrupt travel during this time due to flooding and landslides. Disruption of air travel and airport closures are also possible. Be prepared for your itinerary needing to change at short notice. ROAD TRAVEL: Roadworks and infrastructure projects can cause significant delays on major roads within cities and highways between destinations. Road travel can also be disrupted due to demonstrations and bandhs (strikes) without warning. Major roadworks are currently ongoing in and around Kathmandu and the roads to Chitwan National Park. Delays, heavy traffic, poor road conditions, and dust are a reality of road travel in Nepal. AIR TRAVEL: Nepal's only international airport, Tribhuvan International Airport, has a single runway that services both domestic and international flights. Cancellations and delays are frequent, especially during peak tourist seasons or in poor weather. Travellers have on occasion missed international connections as a result of this. Ensure you have adequate travel insurance and contact numbers for your airlines before departure. Private vehicle

On some occasions, alternative arrangements may need to be made due to the lack of availability of rooms in our preferred accommodation. In these cases, we will use a similar standard of accommodation. Throughout the trip, we request that our properties prepare rooms in time for our arrival, especially if we're arriving prior to normal check-in time. However, this isn't always possible which means we won't be able to check-in immediately on arrival at some hotels.
