   Day 2 · LomeLOME | TOGO

   Explore Lomé, Togo's cosmopolitan capital, uniquely shaped by German, British and French colonial rule. Visit the central market to watch the Nana Benz women trading expensive European pagne cloths, then wander the administrative quarter's colonial buildings and the fetish market's curious ingredients for potions and magic.

   Day 3 · CotonouCOTONOU | GANVIE

   

   Start at Dantokpa Market, one of West Africa's largest, browsing textiles, spices and voodoo ingredients. Relax at Fidjrosse Beach, explore traditional sculptures and masks at the Artisanal Center, then admire the Cathedral of Our Lady of Mercy before crossing Lake Nokwe by motorised boat to Ganvié, Africa's largest village built on stilts.

   Day 4 · AbomeyABOMEY | DAHOMEY KINGDOM

   Tour the Royal Palaces of Abomey, a UNESCO site showcasing the 1625-founded Kingdom of Dahomey, with royal thrones mounted on human skulls and voodoo ritual objects. Visit the Dahomey Royal Museum to learn about the kingdom's all-female military unit, the Dahomey Amazons, then see the Statue of King Béhanzin at Goho Square, commemorating the king who resisted French colonisation.

   Day 5 · OuidahOUIDAH | PHYTON TEMPLE

   Travel to Ouidah, a significant voodoo centre and former slave port. Visit the Python Temple where pythons, revered as divine beings, are held sacred in voodoo belief, then confront the haunting Gate of No Return, marking where enslaved Africans departed for the New World.

   Begin at the Royal Palace museum, formerly King Toffa's residence, displaying his personal effects and artefacts. View the Great Mosque's distinctive Afro-Brazilian architecture, admire the cathedral's intricate stained glass and stone facades, then finish at the Alexandre Sènou Adandé Ethnographic Museum.

   Drive back to Accra from Cotonou, reflecting on experiences across Benin: Dantokpa Market's vibrant goods, Fidjrosse Beach's tranquility, and the natural beauty encountered throughout the journey.

   Day 9 · Cape CoastCAPE COAST | HISTORIC SLAVE CASTLES

   Visit Cape Coast Castle, built as a Portuguese trading post in 1555 and developed by the Swedish in 1653, which traded timber and gold before becoming a slave trade hub. Then explore Elmina Castle, also called St. George's Castle, the first European structure in Sub-Saharan Africa built by the Portuguese in 1482.

    Day 10 · AccraACCRA | ACCRA CITY TOUR | DEPARTURE

    Tour Accra's landmarks: the W.E.B. Du Bois Center honouring the Pan-Africanist scholar, Independence Square where national celebrations occur, and the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum and Museum on the former Polo grounds where Ghana's independence was declared. Transfer to the airport for departure this evening.
