About this trip
This trip mixes proper sightseeing with a slower, closer look at everyday life in the Himalayan foothills. You'll spend time in Delhi, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab before settling into a family guesthouse about 30km from Dharamshala, home to the Dalai Lama.
The centrepiece is two days of moderate hiking and camping in the Himalayas with a professional guide, through valleys, streams and caves. Staying with an Indian family afterwards gives you a real window into local customs rather than just passing through.
It's a good fit if you want your India trip to include both cities and mountains, with a homestay in the middle rather than hotels the whole way.
