About this trip
This is a Kilimanjaro climb via the Marangu route, the most direct and popular way up the mountain, over 8 days including flights, transport and accommodation.
The path climbs steadily through humid rainforest before opening onto moorland and alpine terrain on the way to the summit. You sleep in park huts rather than tents, and take the same route up and down.
It's a gradual, well-trodden route, which makes pacing and acclimatisation more manageable, and means you'll cross paths with plenty of other climbers along the way.
What you'll do
- Trek through dense rainforest thick with birdlife and forest sounds
- Sleep in mountain huts at each stage rather than camping
- Follow the same path on the ascent and descent
- Aim for the summit at Uhuru Peak
- Pass through changing landscapes from forest to alpine terrain
- Huts rather than tents mean a warmer, drier stay, useful in wet season
- As the busiest route on the mountain, expect company from other climbing groups
- The steady, consistent ascent suits those wanting an easier pace for acclimatisation
Worth it if you value professional local guides, excellent food, and reliable summit support. Think twice if you're already well-equipped—rental charges can add £80+ unnecessarily.
- Guides consistently attentive, knowledgeable, and patient; team success rate across age 14-66 speaks volumes.
- Chef delivers plentiful, varied meals with fresh vegetables; porters and support staff equally professional throughout.
- Equipment rental upsell heavy—bring your own warm gear to avoid paying £100+ for items you won't use.
- Pre-climb logistics well-managed; post-summit airport transfers and hotel handoffs handled smoothly by company.
