About this trip
This is a 9-day climb of Kilimanjaro via the Rongai route, the only route that approaches the mountain from the north. It's the quietest way up — you start near the Kenya border and spend your early days crossing wilderness with very few other climbers around.
The route brings you close to Mawenzi, Kilimanjaro's second-highest peak, and the saddle that stretches between Mawenzi and Kibo. You summit via Gillman's Point on the Marangu route, then descend the same way.
All accommodation and transport are included, and the trek is fully guided throughout.
What you'll do
- Climb the less-crowded Rongai route from the north side of Kilimanjaro
- Start your trek near the Kenya border
- View Mawenzi Volcano and the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo up close
- Summit via Gillman's Point
- Descend via the Marangu route
- Getting to the start point involves a long drive through the Marangu gate to obtain your climbing permit
- Suits those who prefer a quieter, less-crowded route over the more popular ones up the mountain
