About this trip

Based in the ski resort town of Soldeu, this eight-day trip mixes hiking, cycling, whitewater rafting and zip-lining across Andorra's stretch of the Pyrenees. You stay in one place throughout, heading out each day with specialist guides for a different activity.

Days are built around getting outdoors and moving: mountain trails through Didcaro National Park, valley cycling routes including the historic Iron Route, and Class 3 rapids near Sort. It's a genuinely active week rather than a scenic sightseeing one.

You'll be back at a family-run chalet-hotel each night, known locally for hearty food and a warm welcome after a full day on the trails or water.

What you'll do

  • Hike through Didcaro National Park with snow-capped peaks around you
  • Cycle valley roads and the historic Iron Route
  • Raft Class 3 rapids on the river near Sort
  • Zip-line through the treetops
  • Stay in a family-run chalet-hotel in Soldeu with a local host on hand
Good to know
  • A moderate level of fitness is needed to keep up with the hiking, cycling and rafting
  • You'll need to be a confident swimmer to take part in the rafting
  • Getting to Soldeu involves a transfer of up to 3.5–4 hours from Toulouse or Barcelona airports

Route map for Andorra: Hike, Bike & Raft
  1. Soldeu, Andorra — Soldeu

You arrive in Soldeu, a ski resort town in the Pyrenees between France and Spain. There's a welcome meeting at 6 pm, dinner included, then the evening is yours to settle in and explore before the week ahead.

  2. Cycle the only flat off-road track in Andorra through Cortals Valley to Engolasters Lake, choosing between easy or challenging woodland routes. Then zip line and navigate rope obstacles through the trees, picnic by the lake, and bike through a tunnel to a viewpoint over Andorra La Vella.

  3. Salamandres Lake Walk — Ransol

Hike up Ransol Valley to Salamandres Lake, passing Roca del Home Dret and possibly spotting the yellow dotted salamanders. Optionally continue to Cabana Sorda, one of Andorra's deepest and coldest lakes set in a cirque, then descend through Incles Valley's meadows and river.

  4. Mountain bike to Port d'Envalira at 2408 m, the Pyrenees' highest road pass and a Tour de France route, then ride off-road to Abelletes Lake on the Andorra-France border. Descend through Grau Roig Valley, lunch among mountains and pine trees, then cycle off-road back to Soldeu and Caves Manacor market.

  5. Cross into Spain via Port de Canto pass and white water raft near Sort with Class 3 rapids in one of the world's top five safest rivers. After paddling past rolling hills, dry off and relax at the centre before driving back to Soldeu.

  6. Walk through forested slopes in Incles Valley to the protected Siscaró reserve, where two mountain lakes sit among pine forest, wildflowers and rhododendrons. Lunch by the lake with optional swimming, then descend through meadows and woodlands back to the valley.

  7. Choose your own adventure: visit La Caldea thermal baths, attempt Via Ferrata climbing, walk or bike, or simply relax and duty-free shop. A farewell dinner with the group caps the evening.

  8. The trip ends after breakfast. Depart at your convenience, or contact your booking agent to arrange a stay extension.

What travellers actually say

Worth it if you're moderately fit and want stunning scenery with varied activities in one base. Think twice if you're very unfit, seeking serious mountain biking, or need crystal-clear upfront difficulty ratings.

  • Guide Antoine and hotel hosts Nick and Nuria genuinely make the trip; their knowledge, warmth, and cooking elevate everything significantly.
  • Hikes are genuinely challenging; multiple reviewers wish fitness demands and difficulty levels were clearer before booking.
  • Biking is off-road terrain, not technical mountain biking; avid bikers may find it underwhelming.
  • Base at one excellent hotel with free day to explore means you unpack once yet experience varied daily activities.
