About this trip
This is eight days of walking a stretch of the Lycian Way, the old coastal path once used by Greeks and Romans, along Turkey's southern shoreline where cliffs drop into the Mediterranean and ruined cities sit half-swallowed by scrub.
A local leader walks with you and fills in the history as you reach places like Olympos, Aperlai and Sidyma on foot rather than by coach. Days mix hiking with boat trips on the sea, traditional meals and time to watch the sun go down over the water.
It's built to balance real effort with proper rest, so alongside the walking there's room to slow down, swim and eat well.
What you'll do
- Walk sections of the ancient Lycian Way with a local leader
- Reach the ruined city of Olympos on foot
- Explore the abandoned settlements of Aperlai and Sidyma
- Take an afternoon boat tour on the Mediterranean
- Swim and watch the sunset by the coast
- Share traditional meals along the route
- Daily hikes run up to 15 km or 7 hours over rocky, steep ground, so moderate fitness is needed
- Expect heat even in spring and autumn, though walks are timed for mornings where possible
- Bring proper walking shoes, a hat, sunscreen, a daypack and swimming gear — walking poles are recommended but can't be sourced locally
